Dance Movement Therapy
Dance therapy, facilitated by a registered dance therapist, is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration to improve health and well-being. Movement can be conducted seated or standing. People of all ages (children to older adults) can participate in dance movement therapy. Therapists focus on helping clients improve self-esteem and body image, develop effective communication skills and relationships, expand their movement vocabulary, gain insight into behavior patterns, address trauma, address mood disorders like depression or anxiety, and create new coping options.
